Participate in Research

There is a lot that we don’t know about LGBTQ Mormons. Consider helping us add to what we know! You can add your name to a list to be notified of future study opportunities by researchers at Utah State University by clicking here. Active research projects that are recruiting participants are listed below:

  • How do LGBQ and same-sex attracted current and former Mormons understand truth, revelation, and the Plan of Salvation? This quantitative study is being conducted by Dr. Mark White (mwhite@ncu.edu). If you are interested in participating in this study, please visit www.mycoretruths.org
  • How do LGBTQ+ Latter-day Saints navigate their gender, sexuality, and faith over time? We are recruiting LGBTQ+ Latter-day Saints to be part of a 10-year longitudinal study to answer these questions. Participants will answer a 45-minute survey every 2 years. We are particularly interested in recruiting participants who consider themselves to currently be active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You can access the survey here. This quantitative study is being conducted by Tyler Lefevor (tyler.lefevor@usu.edu).
  • How can LDS ward and stake councils most effectively minister to LGBTQ church members? We have developed an initial best practice list based on interviews with 25 current- and former-members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints who identify as LGBTQ+. We are interested in sharing these best practices with ward and stake councils. If you are interested, you can give us your name or the name of someone on your ward or stake council here. This study is being conducted by Tyler Lefevor (tyler.lefevor@usu.edu)
